A MESSAGE FROM OUR BOARD CHAIR

Dear friends and neighbours, 2024 has been very important, eventful and transformative for The Mount Community Centre. We hired a new executive director, Arshed Bhatti, who works alongside Property Manager, Sue Toms.

Three of the founding members - John Martyn, Su Musclow and myself carry on after a decade. We continue to have the insightful and expert support of Sister Eileen McManus (in this photo), Nancy Sharpe, Murray Rodd and Michael VanderHerberg. Recently, Dawn Berry-Merriam and Lynn Taylor joined the board.

We are very fortunate that a generous family foundation donated a significant gift that allowed us to build 11 new apartments that will be ready to welcome tenants in early 2025. While change brings its challenges, it also affords new opportunities. We are excited about the intended growth of programs, services and housing stock that is both sustainable and meeting the community's needs. Meanwhile, we are preserving the beauty of this property, keeping it green and focusing on building a thriving neighbourhood. Feel free to come and explore during a peaceful walk in our gardens and orchard.

This year, we have worked tirelessly to strengthen our programs, improve our services and increase our engagement with all those who are interested, curious and supportive.  We are deeply grateful to our incredible volunteers, Thanks to selfless commitment and passionate dedication, they continue to drive our mission forward. Their valuable presence and hard work are the heart of the Mount's miracle. A big thank you to all of them!

Equally, we are profoundly grateful to our donors, whose generosity allows us to continue work that makes a real difference.

As we look toward the future, we remain committed to our vision, grounded in our mission and feeling confident and optimistic that together we will make a meaningful impact. I wish you all an even happier and better  2025.
