What is the application process for residential apartments at The Mount Community Centre?

  1. When a rental apartment is available, applications can be completed online or picked up at The Mount Community Centre (TMCC).

  2. Applications must be filled out in their entirety, and then sent or returned to TMCC. Unfortunately, incomplete applications cannot be accepted.

  3. Next, TMCC reaches out to applicants to schedule an interview. Only the applicants who are offered an interview will be contacted.

When can I apply?

You can apply whenever there is a vacancy! However, applications are only available when there is a vacancy. TMCC also does not keep a waiting list, meaning that for each new vacancy, a new application is required for consideration. It is also important to note that after the vacancy is filled, applications and any supporting documentation will be destroyed.

What documents are required for me to apply for an affordable apartment?

Applications must include income verification. Copies of the following documents are required:

  • Last year's Notice of Assessment from Canada Revenue Agency

  • Your most recent pay stub

  • Last month's bank statement

It is also important to note that property owners cannot apply for ‘Affordable’ apartments.

What kinds of background checks does TMCC conduct?

For those who are offered an interview, TMCC will conduct a credit check. Additionally, previous landlords and references will be contacted.

What happens if I am offered an apartment?

  1. Firstly, an appointment will be scheduled for you to see the apartment.

  2. Then, if you decide to accept the apartment, you must sign a 'Letter of Offer' at the Peterborough Housing Corporation (PHC) office. This office is located at 526 McDonnel Street, Peterborough. PHC is the Property Manager for residential tenants living at The Mount Community Centre.

  3. Lastly, your move-in date will be confirmed by PHC. A signed lease agreement and the first and last month's rent are required before keys will be provided.
