Honouring a Legacy: Pick Family Dedication Ceremony

The Mount Community Centre (TMCC) Board of Directors is excited to announce a transformational donation from the Remembering Otto and Marie Pick Charitable Foundation that spearheaded the final construction of apartments for residential tenants at The Mount Community Centre. In recognition of this extraordinary generosity, a dedication celebration will take place on Friday, July 10, 2026 at 11:00 am in the Austin Doran Hall at The Mount Community Centre.

“We were deeply humbled by the incredible generosity of The Pick family,” says Stephen Kylie, Board Chair, TMCC. “They believe in the power of philanthropy to make communities better. Their gift ensured that we could turn our dream of this facility into a reality, creating a safe, clean space that will serve our community for generations to come. They have a long history of making transformational gifts and their generosity has been shaping the future of communities in our region for years. We’re beyond grateful for their support.”

The Pick family’s donation made through the Remembering Otto and Marie Pick Charitable Foundation was instrumental in allowing The Mount Community Centre to construct 11 new apartments to house residential tenants and make structural improvements to the building. Construction of the final area of our building was completed in October 2025.

“Given the system-wide affordable housing challenges our community is facing, it was so encouraging to have the support of the Pick family, who care as much about our future as we do and were willing to invest in us to make our vision a reality,” continues Kylie. “We simply couldn’t have moved forward without the partnership of the Picks who share our vision for affordable housing and what we can achieve together.”

“The Pick family is thrilled to be able to have partnered with The Mount Community Centre,” says Charles Pick, grandson of Otto and Marie Pick. “The opportunity to provide support in our community for those that need some help in these challenging times is a great privilege for us.”

Community leaders, including MP Emma Harrison, MP Dave Smith, Mayor Jeff Leal and a representative from County Warden Bonnie Clark’s office will be in attendance to give remarks, tour the space and celebrate the Pick family’s legacy. A multi media presentation will be added to the program to showcase the construction journey of the building.
