Rustic Boards For Sale

Rustic Boards makes charcuterie and cutting boards using apple wood from old apple trees, often gathered after storms or trees that require pruning. Some of these boards have come from the trees at the Mount while other boards were made from tree branches donated to the garden prop-am.

With the help from volunteers these limbs are milled into planks, cured for many months. Thanks to St. Peter's woodworking teachers and machines and equipment needed to complete these projects, the apple wood is made into different items, including tabletops, cutting boards and charcuterie boards. Each board is treated with a food-safe oil and bees' wax. For best results they should be washed by hand in warm water and soap.

The money raised from the sales of these boards is used to sustain the gardens at the Mount. This includes the purchase of soil, seeds, water and other gardening expenses each year.
