Curated by Hartley Stephenson, and produced by Elizabeth Fennell, “Get Your Art On, Vol.II” is the second installment of a show and sale for visual artists in the chapel of the Mount Community Center (MCC). The show will be up for five days, with an opening reception Friday May 12th from 6-10PM with live entertainment by Catfish Willie, and a ‘toonie bar’ with proceeds covering costs of licensing the event for the MCC. Open hours will be Saturday & Sunday, May 13th & 14th, from 10AM-4PM, and by appointment during the week leading up to Wednesday May 17th, when the Mount hosts an event by the Peterborough Poverty Reduction Network. Staffing of the gallery will primarily be done by Hartley, who has studio space at the Mount, but artists are welcome to volunteer to staff some hours to spell Hartley off as they’re available.

Sales will be managed by Hartley Stephenson with artists keeping 100% of their sales, pay-outs will be available upon pick-up after the show closes (May 18th & 19th).

Format is informal, with anything goes as far as medium, and placement is first-come-first-served. Artworks are placed on pews, in window ledges, and leaning against walls (see images from first installment). There is approximately 360 linear feet of pew seating, but each artist can choose to layer work on both floors & seats. Small works can take advantage of window ledges; there is some limited space for suspending hanging pieces; and large floor areas for sculptural works. In sum, space is vast, but finite. We expect to be able to accommodate at least 30 artists, possibly more, and we recommend a maximum of 3 pieces up to 3 feet wide, with no limit of pieces under 3 feet.

Drop-off dates: Upon confirmation of participation artists should set up a drop-off date between 10am & 4PM on the 10th, 11, or 12th, with the understanding that placement is first-come-first-served – Hartley will decide final placement, but those who arrive early may have some say in their space. You will need to be able to bring your art to the Mount, as well as a list of their titles & prices (make 2 copies, one for yourself, one for us), and your registration fee of $15 (which can be paid in advance as well).
